Dr Shaista E. Khilji

Professor, George Washington University

Shaista E Khilji is Professor of Human and Organizational Learning & International Affairs at the George Washington University (GW), founding editor-in-chief of the South Asian Journal of Business Studies (Emerald Publications), and affiliate faculty at Sigur Center of Asian Studies, Global Gender Program, Global Women’s Institute and Institute of Global and International Studies.

Prof. Khilji has a well-established expertise in global talent management, cross-cultural management, change and leadership. She has spent her entire academic career examining how societies/ countries are increasingly faced with pressures to globalize and how they transition. In her book entitled Globalization, Change and Learning in South Asia, she highlights paradoxes and complexities of development within emerging economies. Her current and future research projects focus upon examining inequalities within organizations, temporal dynamics within organizations, advancing understanding of macro-level global talent management, and developing a cross-cultural understanding of authentic leadership. Currently, she is the Co-PI of a US$ 1 million project (funded by the US Dept. of State) that focuses upon women’s empowerment in Pakistan, by building academic partnerships and creating people to people ties.

Prof. Khilji has authored more than 100 papers; publishing many scholarly articles in tier-1 academic journals, editing book chapters and presenting at conferences internationally. She has won many awards including the Best Reviewer and Outstanding Service awards from the prestigious Academy of Management, Best Paper Award from the Academy of International Business, GW’s Service Excellence Award for hosting the Clinton Global Initiative University (in the collaborative category) at GW, and VALOR Award for cross-disciplinary work at GW. In 2007, GW also nominated Prof. Khilji as a “Rising Star in Academia Under 40 Years of Age” for a Washingtonian magazine award.

 

 

Dr Yusuf Sidani
Convenor & Professor, American University of Beirut

Yusuf Sidani (PhD) is Professor of Leadership and Business Ethics at the Suliman S. Olayan School of Business, American University of Beirut (AUB). He is currently the convenor (chairperson) of the management, marketing, and entrepreneurship track where he manages about twenty faculty members.

Dr. Sidani’s research focuses on business and employee ethics, gender and diversity in organizations, and international human resource management with special interest in the Middle East region. His research appeared in leading international peer-reviewed academic journals such as Human Resource Management Review, Business Ethics Quarterly, the Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of World Business, and the International Journal of Human Resource management. He is an Associate Editor in the Journal of Business Ethics: A European Review, a member of the editorial board of several journals, and is a reviewer for various journals. Dr. Sidani was awarded the prestigious 2015 Abdul Hameed Shoman Award for Arab Researchers.

 

 

Dr Ijaz Shafi Gilani
Chairman, GALLUP Pakistan

Dr. Ijaz Shafi Gilani received his doctorate in Political Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1977. Thereafter he taught in the Department of International Relations, Quaid-I-Azam University for ten years (1977-1987). He also served as Chairman of the Department of International Relations (1980-81). From 1991-93, he served as adviser to the Prime Minister and was Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Committee for Research and Analysis, an inhouse think tank which he set up at the Prime Minister’s Secretariat. Currently Dr. Gilani heads Gallup Pakistan which specializes in opinion and marketing research. Gallup Pakistan under the Chairmanship of Dr. Gilani was the pioneer in Media Research in Pakistan launching the 1st TV Rating service in the country. He is also serving as part of 7 members Board of Gallup International and Chairs Expert Group on Opinion Research. Dr. Gilani has headed a number of research projects in the field of social and economic development, strategic studies and political behaviour. He served as Project Director at the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (1979-81), and co-chaired the crisis and conflict Analysis Team at the Institute of Strategic Studies (1984-93). He has also served as Research Adviser to the National Defence College. Currently Dr. Gilani is an honorary Senior Fellow at the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics Islamabad. He is a former member of the Board of Governors of Bahria University. Dr. Gilani has published on a wide range of subjects. He has lectured in various Universities and other institutions of higher learning, such as the National Defence College, National Institute of Public Administration, Administrative Staff College and the Institute of Strategic Studies.
